After an exciting regular season in which the Aces and defending WNBA champion Sky finished with the best records in the league, the WNBA playoffs are set to begin on Wednesday night. Both teams are betting favorites to win the WNBA championship, but they aren’t the only ones with intriguing postseason odds.
The Storm, Mystics, Sun, Liberty, and Wings will all have a say in what happens in the coming weeks, making it difficult for Aces and Sky to reach the Finals. We’ll break down the odds on all of the playoff teams below, as well as some of our best bets for what should be an exciting WNBA postseason.

Who is the favorite to win the WNBA championship in 2022?
Aces (+175). With an eight-point victory over the Storm on Sunday, the Aces clinched the No. 1 seed. Under first-year head coach Becky Hammon, Las Vegas has been a consistent betting favorite to win the WNBA championship this season.
The Aces are playing fast (first in pace) and shooting well from three-point range (36.1 percent), which has helped them lead the league in scoring (90.4 points per game). Dearica Hamby, Las Vegas’ All-Star forward, is out for 2-4 weeks with a right knee bone contusion and will miss the start of the playoffs. Hamby, a two-time Sixth Woman of the Year (2019, ’20), was an important part of the Aces’ starting lineup this season.
Despite being without Hamby, the Aces remain a title contender. On any given night, A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young can all score 80-100 points. All four players average at least 13 points per game and shoot more than 34% from three-point range.
The Aces will face the Mercury in the first round before potentially facing the Storm or Mystics in the semifinals, both of which are difficult draws.
Keep an eye on the defending champion Sky (+230), who has an easier path to the Finals. In the first round, James Wade’s team will face the Liberty, who are seven-point favorites in Game 1. Chicago was one of the league’s best offensive teams (86.3 ppg/107.7 Off Rtg) and one of the league’s best defensive teams (81.3 ppg allowed/101.5 Def Rtg). If the Sky defeats the Liberty, it will set up a rematch of last season’s semifinals against the Sun.
If you want to bet on a favorite, Chicago makes the most sense because their odds will only get shorter as they progress through the playoffs. The Sky should be able to get past the Liberty and may end up facing the Wings if the Sun is upset. Chicago is 3-1 against New York this season, 3-0 against Connecticut, and 2-1 against Dallas.
Who are the underdogs to win the WNBA championship in 2022?
Storm (+550). When we first looked at the WNBA Finals odds before the All-Star break, the Storm were +400 to win the championship. Their odds have shifted slightly as the postseason approaches, but you can’t count out this veteran-led squad that knows what it takes to win. Seattle has the most difficult first-round opponent in the Mystics, who are led by another veteran.
During the regular season, the Storm went 2-1 against the Mystics, with an average margin of victory of 9.5 points per game. Seattle will rely on Breanna Stewart, who is a contender for her second MVP award. Stewart led the team in both points and rebounds (21.8 ppg) (7.6 rpg). Opponents will have to watch out for Jewell Loyd, Tina Charles, Ezi Mabegor, Sue Bird, and Gabby Williams in addition to Stewart.
(+1100) Mystics If the Mystics can get through their side of the bracket, they have a good chance of winning the championship. Since the regular season began in May, the Mystics have been a popular underdog pick to win the championship. Head coach Mike Thibault has an outstanding veteran team with a young infusion led by rookie center Shakira Austin.
Washington finished the regular season as the league’s best defensive team (97.8 Def Rtg), allowing only 75.9 points per game, which will serve them well in their first-round series against the Storm. Elena Delle-Donne, Natasha Cloud, Ariel Atkins, and Alysha Clark lead the Mystics’ veteran core. Delle-Donne was the team’s leading scorer (17.2), while Cloud led the league in assists (7.0).
Betting tip: The Mystics are the best bet for a WNBA playoff sleeper. If Washington defeated Seattle, they would be the longshot among the remaining teams in the semis (Chicago, Las Vegas, and Connecticut). If they make it past the second round, their odds will rise to +500 or +600, which isn’t bad. However, if you can get 11/1 odds on a playoff-tested team that has previously won the WNBA Finals, go with the Mystics.
