Patrick Beverley has had a poor start to the season, but he thrives in the types of matchups where his team expects him to focus on pressuring and irritating a talented guard like Damian Lillard. In these types of matchups, Beverley thrives. Both he and Russell Westbrook are good matches for Anfernee Simons and Lillard on the basketball court.
The Portland Trail Blazers’ bench isn’t very spectacular, especially now that Gary Payton II and Trendon Watford are both sidelined with injuries. The Los Angeles Lakers should have an advantage with their second unit now that wing Troy Brown is set to return today.
Last but not least, Portland just came off a victory in overtime over the Phoenix Suns, who are a very talented team and had four of their five starters play over 40 minutes. Since the Lakers haven’t played a game in two days, it is reasonable to expect that they are well rested and have had plenty of time to get ready for this clash.
You can anticipate the Lakers to enter this game with a sense of urgency and to achieve their first win of the season while also covering the spread.
